2012MEMBERSHIP

Thank you for joining Thornhill Golf club for 2012 and best wishes for good weather and a successful year on the golf course.

At the AGM the members supported the changes proposed by the Committee and acknowledged their responsibility in trying to raise income. Income can be raised in a number of ways:

  • increased use of the members concessions
  • more visitors
  • supporting fund raising events organised by the club
  • members using the clubhouse more
  • finding new members

The last item on the list is the most important for the long term viability of the club and  all members are encouraged  to actively seek new members.

£50 reward for finding new  members
For any member introducing a new member for 2012  £50  will be given towards your 2013 subscription. Former golfers will be acceptable in this initiative if they have not been a member for the last two years.

Further discussion at the AGM highlighted the need for members to remember their responsibility for the upkeep of the course and the efficient operation of club competitions. Please do your utmost to:

  • repair pitch marks at all times
  • use litter bins and keep the course tidy
  • replace divots with care
  • remove stones in bunkers and place in litter bins
  • play matchplay ties by the designated date
  • use tee timesheets appropriately and notify any time you are unable to fulfil your booking

ENJOY YOUR GOLF AND LOOK AFTER THE COURSE

Constitution 2011
Posted on : 21st January 2011

Thornhill Golf Club has made changes to its constitution and membership structure to provide more opportunities for locals to play golf at Thornhill. At the recent AGM the 8 mile rule was abolished. This rule had previously ensured that anyone living within 8 miles of the course had to be a full member of the Club.

Local golfers can now “pay and play” at Thornhill or join members at the concessionary rate if signed in by the member. Those who wish to play a few games per year are invited to take advantage of these opportunities and enjoy a round of golf.
