Guinness World Record Attempt in Aid of Prostate Buddies D&G

Jun 16, 2026

Thornhill Golf Club is proud to announce that members David King and Jeff McKean will be attempting a Guinness World Record on 22nd and 23rd June 2026, all in support of the local charity Prostate Buddies D&G.

The challenge will begin at 8:00am on Monday 22nd June and conclude at 8:00am on Tuesday 23rd June. During this time, David and Jeff will attempt to play golf continuously for 24 hours, completing more than 180 holes in order to break the current Guinness World Record.

This remarkable feat is being undertaken to raise vital funds and awareness for Prostate Buddies D&G, a charity that provides support, guidance and a safe environment for men and their partners affected by prostate cancer throughout Dumfries and Galloway.

Prostate Buddies D&G meets on the last Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm in the Baptist Church, Dumfries. The group offers separate spaces for men and partners, allowing everyone the opportunity to speak openly, share experiences and seek advice in a supportive and understanding environment.

All funds raised through the world record attempt will remain within Dumfries and Galloway, helping the charity continue its important work and raise awareness of prostate cancer across the region.

David and Jeff are currently seeking sponsors and supporters to help make the challenge a success.

Thornhill Golf Club encourages members, visitors and the wider community to come along during the challenge, support David and Jeff, and help raise funds for a charity that provides invaluable support to local families affected by prostate cancer.

Whether through sponsorship, donations or simply sharing the story, every contribution will help make a difference.

We wish David and Jeff every success as they prepare to take on this incredible challenge and make history at Thornhill Golf Club.
